1.0 INTRODUCTION
The design and construction of a 650VA inverter one of the numerous breakthroughs in modern technology. As a result of the incessant power outage we experience in the nation, it’s is enough to inform us that every office should have a back up power source to prevent loss of data in times of power outage form the national grid.
The project design is to ensure that there is uninterrupted power supply to our computer system in case of power outage.

FIG 1.1.2 THE BLOCK DIAGRAM OF THE INVERTER
- To ensure there is uninterruptible power supply to the computer system.
- To prevent loss of data in case of power outage.
1.3 SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY
- It prevents huge economic loss caused by data loss.
- It prevents waste of useful man hour needed for recreation of lost data.
1.4 SCOPE AND LIMITATION
The scope of this project is to show the method of design, the materials used to make a 650 watts inverter. The limitation encountered in this project was the unavailability of some components used for the design.
1.5 DEFINITION OF TERMS.
1.5.1 POWER UNIT
The power unit consists of a l2VoJts D.C battery suitable for driving the inverter circuit. The battery source is recharged when it gets discharged because of prolonged use.
1.5.2 ASTABLE MULT[-VIBRATOR
The astable multivibrator is made up two similar transistors, each providing its own feedback to the other. This is where the pulse needed to drive the mosfet is generated.
1.5.3 DRIVER /AMPLIFIER
The driver unit is used to amplify the signal or pulse from the astable multi-vibrator for it to be able to trigger the MOSFET.
1.5.4 THE MOSFET SWITCH
The mosfet is used to pass negative supply of the battery to the booster transformer
1.5.5 STEP-UP TRANSFORMER
The setup transformer is used to step up the 12v supply to the desired voltage.
